A selection of views of Newbury town centre. The River Kennet and
the Kennet and Avon canal flow intertwined right through the
middle of the town. This is my nearest market town and lies 6km
to the West of Thatcham. The main street, Northbrook Street, is
in the process of being pedestrianised and crosses the Kennet via
a narrow bridge that connects it to the Market Place. Just behind
the Market Place is the old wharf area with a restored 18th
century crane. The car park behind the crane is the site of a
canal basin long since filled in.
